Orange County’s own HAWAI released “I’m Not Dead” a few days ago. The track merges beach vibes, Alt Rock, and riveting synths to create an awesome sound that is definitely worth your attention.
HAWAI has had an exciting recent past, having changed their name from J.Thoven, striking a beat on HypeMachine charts, signing to Antler Records, and racking up hundreds of thousands of plays on platforms like SoundCloud and Spotify with their hit single “In My Head.”
HAWAI’s sound is characterized as sun-kissed alternative music that feels alive, and “I’m Not Dead” is no exception to this description. The band is made up of Jake Pappas (vocals, guitar), Jesse Dorman (drums), Jared Slaybaugh (bass, vocals), and Matt Gillen (keyboards, synth).
Their momentum isn’t shifting downward anytime soon, as the group is planning to release an upcoming EP in May this year while also playing some big shows in the meantime. Most notably, the band will be making their debut at SXSW next month in Austin, TX.
Keep an eye out for more material from HAWAI coming soon, and be sure to check them out at SXSW if you’re making your way to the iconic festival.
